Population Trends
All of the communities in Webster County have shown marked growth between 1960 and 1996 with the exception of Fordland, which had an 8% loss between 1980 and 1990 but showed a substantial gain between 1990 and 1996. Between 1970 and 1980, Webster County grew by 31.17%, more than any other 10 year period. Since 1970, the population in Webster County and each of the communities has increased at a faster rate than both Missouri and the United States reflecting a trend during this decade of a movement from urban to rural areas.

According to population projections from the Missouri Office of Administration, Webster County will be experiencing a faster growth rate than Missouri and as fast or faster than the United States through the year 2020.
